GERMANY. Enapi receives €2.5 million pre-seed funding

Enapi secures €2.5 million upfront funding to transform interoperability in EV charging! Learn how their transaction broker simplifies electric car charging

Berlin, March 19, 2024 – Enapi, a connectivity platform for collaboration in the electric vehicle (EV) charging industry, announces the closing of its €2.5 million pre-funding round led by Project A Ventures, with participation from Seedcamp and HelloWorld. As of today, the company is granting access to its platform to a select group of launch partners. This facilitates connections between charge point operators and companies that develop and provide digital charging solutions for consumers and businesses.

Charging point operators vs eMobility service providers

Charge point operators aim for easy connectivity to achieve their usage goals, while eMobility service providers aim to provide EV drivers with access to all charge points. However, technical interoperability between charge point operators and eMobility service providers is a major challenge. Current solutions lack scalability, are expensive and result in poor data quality. These shortcomings ultimately affect EV drivers, as they receive inaccurate information about the availability of charging points and lack transparency about public charging fees.

The EV market is at an interesting inflection point: adoption is increasing, but public charging is still nowhere near as seamless as conventional fuel charging.

Philipp Werner, Partner at Project A

As an infrastructure layer company, Enapi is focused on building a secure, reliable and scalable platform for stakeholder collaboration in the EV industry. The Enapi Transaction Broker enables EV charging transactions and uses the OCPI standard to ensure seamless connectivity of charging stations. Enapi empowers market participants to adopt and expand the use of open protocols to improve community collaboration and increase data quality. With the current funding, Enapi aims to expand its network, improve data quality on the platform and develop clearinghouse capabilities to enable charging point connectivity at scale.

The EV charging infrastructure is broken. Enapi plays a critical role in enabling charge point connectivity and creating frictionless collaboration
