UK. About:Energy Opens New Battery Testing Facility in Southwark, London

About:Energy has launched its new battery testing facility in Southwark, London, aimed at supporting the company’s UK and European clients. The facility covers approximately 3,000 square feet and focuses on various advanced battery technologies, including solid-state, sodium-ion, and Lithium Iron Manganese Phosphate (LFMP) batteries. The goal is to provide critical data that can help companies reduce costs and accelerate development timelines.

The facility is strategically located to serve as a central hub for battery testing and development. It features testing capabilities for battery teardown parameterization and cell testing up to 1,000 amps, which may benefit industries such as automotive, aerospace, and aviation in their battery product development.

By offering access to essential data for advanced battery technologies, the facility aims to facilitate the integration of solid-state, sodium-ion, and LFMP batteries in various sectors. This initiative is intended to assist companies in minimizing the costs associated with in-house testing and development.

About:Energy’s software platform, The Voltt, complements the new facility by providing users with access to battery intelligence and digital models. The platform includes simulation tools that deliver insights into the thermal, electrical, and degradation properties of batteries, supporting decision-making regarding battery packs and management systems.

Gavin White, co-founder and CEO of About:Energy, stated that the facility will enhance the company’s testing capabilities and contribute to innovation across multiple industries. This initiative is part of a broader investment strategy focused on establishing a standard in the UK’s battery technology landscape, with plans for significant investment over the next five years to support research and development and the commercialization of advanced battery measurement technologies.
