US. Kempower achieves CTEP certification in California, delivering best in class accuracy and reliability favoring consumers

Durham, NC – (Thursday, August 15, 2024) Kempower is proud to announce that its Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) have achieved California Type Evaluation Program (CTEP) certification, marking a seal of integrity to its North American product line. Certifying Kempower’s base models to CTEP’s highest standards means Kempower can quickly produce and deliver orders for California, U.S.

CTEP certifies that Kempower’s equipment meets and exceeds regulatory standards that protect consumers from faulty or fraudulent devices—ensuring consumers are charged accurately for the energy they use.

During the evaluation conducted June 11 through June 13, 2024, Kempower’s DC fast charging products demonstrated high accuracy and reliability, with all repeatability tests resulting in less than 1.0% error, favoring consumers.

“This milestone not only enhances our product portfolio but also strengthens our partnership with industry leaders. CTEP certification is essential for operating commercial EVSE in California, the largest EV market in North America, comparable to Germany in Europe,” says Jussi Vanhanen, Chief Market Officer.

“Achieving CTEP certification demonstrates our commitment to delivering high accuracy charging to protect our customers. Kempower’s base model products performed to the best accuracy class of 2.0—similar to commonly used third party DC meters—providing lower cost options with exceptional performance, consistently favoring consumers,” says Somia Youssef, Product Specialist for North America who led the certification process.

Kempower’s CTEP COA data:

CTEP COA No. 5981-24 (for Kempower devices integrated with 3rd party DC meters)

CTEP COA No. 5982-24 (for Kempower standard devices without 3rd party DC meter)

“The CTEP Evaluator remarked that Kempower’s accuracy results were among the best he has ever measured, having tested hundreds of products,” added Youssef.

Key achievements:

High accuracy: Kempower’s accuracy, both with and without a third-party DC-meter, meets the highest CTEP accuracy class of better than 1%.

Reliable performance: All repeatability tests confirmed Kempower’s equipment measures power dispensed with the lowest error margin always in favor of the consumers.

Market expansion: ETL-certified base models achieve the best accuracy class, lowering costs, expanding the portfolio, and enabling faster deliveries with CTEP certification.

Strategic partnerships: Kempower deepens collaboration with EV charging providers in California and across North America.
